If it backs to open ground, a canal or a field, almost nobody wants to give up that view, and three rail iron closes the yard without taking it.
The thing that matters most on a new build is sequence. Fence should go in after the landscaping, not before it, because a skid steer or a sod truck that needs to get into the back yard will cost you a panel and a gate post if the fence is already standing. We would rather schedule around your landscaper than come back out to rebuild a run somebody had to take apart.

On timing a new build
Call us before your landscaping goes in rather than after, even if the fence itself is weeks out. Once we know the date, we can hold a slot and put the fence in behind the sod instead of around it. Leaving a gate opening wide enough for equipment is easy to plan and expensive to retrofit.

Should the fence go in before or after landscaping?
After, almost always. Landscapers need equipment access to the back yard, and a fence that is already standing either blocks them or gets taken apart to let them through. Call us early so we can hold a date, then we come in behind the sod.
Do you work with builders on new construction in Star?
Yes. A lot of our Star work is coordinated with the builder or the landscaper rather than arranged entirely by the homeowner. Tell us who else is on the schedule and we will work our date around theirs.
What do you install on a lot that backs to a canal?
Rackable panels that follow the grade in one continuous line rather than stepping down it. Canal and drain lots fall away, and a stepped fence leaves a wedge shaped gap under the bottom rail. Rackable panels close that without looking like a staircase.
My lot backs to open ground. What fence will not block the view?
Western three rail iron is the usual answer in Star. It closes the yard for kids and dogs, it is rackable for grade, and it leaves the view intact. If you want the back open and the sides private, we mix it with vinyl or cedar on the side runs.
